{"id":3618,"date":"2026-03-01T00:00:24","date_gmt":"2026-03-01T05:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/churchintheacres.org\/wpDir\/?p=3618"},"modified":"2026-02-18T16:08:54","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T21:08:54","slug":"take-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/churchintheacres.org\/wpDir\/take-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Take Time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I was thinking about the fact that God wants relationship with us.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus really DOES want to be your best friend.\u00a0\u00a0The old hymn \u201cWhat a Friend We Have\u00a0In\u00a0Jesus\u201d is so true.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Friendship with God is like any other friendship\u2014you\u00a0have to\u00a0make time\u00a0for it. If you\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0make time\u00a0for your human friends,\u00a0they\u2019re\u00a0not really your friends.\u00a0\u00a0If God is going to be your best friend,\u00a0you\u2019ve\u00a0got to give him your best time.\u00a0\u00a0If you want to build a deep relationship with God, you\u00a0have to\u00a0slow down and be quiet.\u00a0\u00a0The Bible says, \u201c<strong><em>Be still, and know that I am God<\/em><\/strong>\u201d (Psalm 46:10 NIV).<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">To know God better, you\u00a0have to\u00a0be still. And\u00a0a great way\u00a0to be still with God is by having a daily quiet time with him.\u00a0\u00a0Psalm 25:14 reminds us:\u00a0\u00a0\u201c<em><strong>Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence him. With them alone he shares the secrets of his promises.<\/strong><\/em>\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Many people\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0know God. They\u00a0haven\u2019t\u00a0experienced his love. They\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0know why he does what he does. Yet the Bible says that friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence him\u2014in other words, those who slow down and spend time with him.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">What would a friendship be like if you never invested your time in it? Friendships need attention. You will never know God intimately if you only go to church services.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">You will never know God intimately if you\u00a0never\u00a0read God\u2019s Word and ask him, \u201cGod, is there anything you want to say to me?\u201d You\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0have to use any fancy phrases or words. Just talk to him authentically. And then listen!<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Message\u00a0Bible\u00a0says it like this: \u201c<em><strong>When you come before God,\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0turn that into a theatrical production. . . .\u00a0Find a quiet, secluded place so you\u00a0won\u2019t\u00a0be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and\u00a0honestly\u00a0as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace<\/strong><\/em>\u201d (Matthew 6:5-6).<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Make it a plan this month to slow down\u00a0several times, focus on God, and listen as he speaks to you about his grace.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Let me ask\u00a0you?\u00a0\u00a0What distractions keep you from being still before God? How can you limit those distractions?\u00a0\u00a0Why is it sometimes easier or more enjoyable to\u00a0watch TV or\u00a0spend time with your friends than with God?
